~ About
I'm Alex — a full-stack developer based in Berlin. I've spent the last seven years building backend systems, developer tooling, and the occasional internal UI that nobody asked for but everybody ended up using.
Most of my day-to-day work is in Go and Python: APIs, background workers, infrastructure glue, and the kind of services that have to stay up at 3 a.m. without anyone noticing. I care a lot about observability, small codebases, and writing the kind of code that my future self can read at a glance.
Before going independent, I worked on platform and infrastructure teams at a couple of mid-sized startups, where I learned that most "scalability problems" are really "boring database problems in a trench coat". These days I take on contract work and tinker on open-source side projects.
What I'm up to
- Contracting on backend & infra projects
- Maintaining a few small open-source libraries
- Writing the occasional post about Linux and networking
